Our next CyNam community networking event takes place on Thursday 10th October, at Jury’s Inn, Cheltenham. The topic of conversation for the evening will be the cyber security realities now faced by critical operational technologies.

As well as an opportunity to hear from the industry’s cyber security experts, from the likes of EDF Energy, Secarma Ltd, and National Cyber Security Centre, it will, of course, provide a relaxing evening for networking opportunities. Earlier this September, we were pleased to announce the launch of hub8, a workspace innovation facility curating Gloucestershire’s emerging cyber technology businesses.

CyNam has been working in close partnership with hub8, located in Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter, and we are incredibly excited for the potential it has for supporting and growing the region’s cyber tech capabilities.

At CyNam 19.3 on October 10th, hub8’s Bruce Gregory will give us an update on the current status of hub8, how things are progressing, and how others can get involved.

What would you do if a power station was compromised? How about a nuclear power plant?

As operational technology environments are virtualised, there is greater exposure and risk from virtual threats. Organisations like the National Cyber Security Centre are responsible for understanding the implications this will have on national critical infrastructure, and helping major organisations understand how to overcome them.

We are very excited to welcome Neil Madden as a first-time speaker to CyNam 19.3. Neil is the Security Director for ForgeRock, a leading provider of modern, simple and comprehensive identity and access management solutions, who have worked with thousands of brands, including TomTom, Pearson and Vodafone.  

Neil will be using his experiences gained at ForgeRock, to talk about his work on identity and access management solutions to present a fascinating insight into the technical world of protecting and securing IoT devices, and by extension people.
